Barley Bottoms

February 1, 2016

After sliding in price for the last month and a half, barley has found a bottom and is looking to recover going into the spring months. February movement could remain sluggish as many end-users have coverage into March which could also hold late winter prices in check. Price recovery as always will depend on how quickly coverage is had for April-May. If end-users are able to get coverage early on rallies could be less volatile then usual. Also, export remains a dark horse this year as a market maker. Should the dollar continue to weaken into March potential demand could surge if export markets open up, if not our local market could stay a little quieter based on current supply levels.
